Experience the Living Laboratory
at UC San Diego’s Green Open House
April 16, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Kick off your Earth Week celebration with fun for the entire family including a car show, entertainment, landscape exhibits, cooking demos, health screenings, an e-waste collection drive and much more.
The free event takes place Saturday, April 16 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. on the UC San Diego campus in La Jolla.
Ample free parking will be available and free shuttles will be provided from parking lots 703, 704 and 705 to the center of campus. Full transportation details can be found below.

As part of our commitment to being green, UC San Diego has also partnered with MTS and NCTD to provide public transportation options. Green Open House attendees can print and use a 4-ride-free bus pass on specific bus routes and a 2-for-1 pass on the Coaster.

* MTS 150, a special event route, will run every half hour between Old Town and UC San Diego (at the corner of Gilman Drive and Myers Drive) between 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. with a last departure from campus at 5:30 p.m.
- Free Coaster Shuttles

- Sorrento Valley station to UC San Diego: Meets 9:03 a.m. and 11:42 a.m. southbound trains for trips to campus.
- UC San Diego to Sorrento Valley station: Departs campus from the corner of Gilman Drive and Myers Drive at 12:30 p.m. (to meet the northbound 12:53 train) and 3:20 p.m. (to meet the northbound 3:43 train).

Parking is free and will be available in UC San Diego parking lots 703, 704 and 705, off of Genesee Avenue and Campus Point Drive. Free shuttles from the parking lots to Green Open House will run continuously from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Download a printable map that includes these parking lots.

Pick up your Green Open House passport at the Diego 91.7 or La Mejor FM 99.3 booths (across from the UC San Diego Bookstore on Library Walk.) Visit each UC San Diego info booth to have your passport punched and turn it back in at the Diego or La Mejor booths for a free prize (while supplies last)!

Details, Details, Details…
- What to wear?
- This is an outdoor event, so plan for weather appropriate clothing. Comfortable shoes, casual dress, sunscreen and hats are recommended. The event itself is spread over a half-mile-square area, so there will be lots of walking involved to see everything.
- Who should come?
- This is a family event and all ages are welcome!
- Water?
- Bring your reusable water container to refill at the info booths.
- Food?
- Pack a lunch and picnic at the event, or purchase food from one of the food vendors around the event or in the Price Center.

- Featuring some of the newest designs in electric, hybrid, biodiesel and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicles including: Chevy Volt and CNG van; full speed electric vehicles from Mitsubishi, Coda Automotive, Phoenix Motorcars, Tesla and Nissan; an electric ATV; electric dune buggy; and a Formula Hybrid.
